These two pieces are from the Art Nouveau period, which features flowing stylized plant forms. This style was strongest between 1890 and 1910. This style is a direct reaction to the manufactured look that was becoming standard in Victorian homes. Art Nouveau was a return to craftsmanship, nature and simplicity.
